We rode on a train
We ran through the park,
We played in the day
And watched stars in the dark.
He gave me hope when I had none,
So I will stand strong now my Grandad has gone.
His presence was sweet and his cuddles were great,
He was not just my Grandad he was also my mate!
His stories inspired me hearing about his life,
His parents, the war, the post! And his wife.
“When I was a boy “, his sentence would start…
“Oh Grandad you always stole my heart”.
I love you so much and wish you were here,
Your memories live on they make you feel near.
Thank you Grandad for looking after me,
I loved gardening with you whilst drinking cups of tea.
“Those were the days! “ I now will say …
“When I was a girl my Grandad used to say “…
You were strong and a man of his word,
I loved your whistle it sounded like a bird.
You were funny and truly great company that I will miss,
I am so glad Grandad I gave you one last kiss.
1924 until 2011 God called your name to come and rest in heaven.
Thank you Jesus for letting me see him until his end,
A husband, a dad, a Grandad and my friend.
